We had our statutory inspection of Anglican schools in February 2015 which concluded that the distinctiveness and effectiveness of St Thomas’ as a Church of English school are outstanding.
“The school’s Christian values are clearly and creatively displayed in every classroom. As one child expressed, ‘Our values explain everything we do in school and guide us in how to behave to each other.’ Christian values are the ‘language of the school’ because they inform all decisions about policy and practice and particularly the relationships.
The relationships between all members of the school community are excellent. They are characterized by mutual respect and a genuine sense of community. At the heart of these relationships are the schools values of forgiveness, loyalty, hospitality, truth and peace.”
Ofsted praised St Thomas’ when they visited in November 2014. They said:
“This is an outstanding school, where pupils display exemplary behaviour and attitudes. They leave the school as articulate and mature learners, ready for the next stage of their education. Pupils from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and social circumstances work and play together harmoniously. Pupils are safeguarded effectively.Leaders work as a close-knit team and are led by a highly effective headteacher. The spiritual, moral, social and cultural work of the school is a strength. Pupils benefit from a rich curriculum, and a wide range of experiences which equip them for life in modern Britain”
